TRANSPLANT RECOVERY - Week 8

If you've been following our daughter-to-hubby transplant story, thank you for sticking with us. You know hubby's recovery has been a roller-coaster ride... that's apparently not over!

He did have outpatient surgery earlier this week to biopsy the new kidney and preliminary results were indicative of rejection. His doctors started him on high dose infusions of steroids to try to tamp it down. More targeted infusions are coming next week after the final results are in. Oh goodie, more side effects!😬

This has meant medical appointments every day this week, with many more to follow. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing care he's receiving, but I'll be honest: this has been so much harder than either of us anticipated. With no guarantee it's going to work out like we want.

What do you do when things don't go the way you want, plan or expect? When life is just plain hard?

Amidst the challenges of this week, I made a couple mistakes that affected others; things under normal circumstances I wouldn't have missed. So I owned them and apologized. I wish I was perfect and never disappointed others, but that's an impossible expectation, isn't it?

Sometimes grace is granted to others; sometimes you need to grant it to yourself.

Meanwhile, we keep trusting in the One who is Sovereign. The One who works all things for the good of those who love him, according to His plan and purpose... which often is hard to understand and not how we'd do it! Which is why He is GOD and we are not, right?!

And finally, I'm planning to indulge in paper therapy this weekend. With chocolate. And my favorite uplifting music. My formula for beating stress!
