Q & A: Solid Image Stamping

Q: I have trouble with stamps that have a large flat area (like the gingerbread boy and girl). Is there a trick to getting a good stamped image with them?

A: Getting good, solid, even coverage can sometimes be tricky with stamps that have a large surface area.

Here's my Savvy Tips for success:

Use paper designed for stamping. This is usually the top reason for poor results. Our cardstock is milled specifically for stamping- and yes, it can make a HUGE difference in the quality of your results.
Use clean stamps. Always remove ink after each use. For Photopolymer stamps (like the gingerbread boy/girl in this week's Holiday Project Tutorial), use the (lint free) Simply Shammy and Stampin' Mist.
Use a well-inked stamp pad. Ink Refills are a necessity! Have them on hand to extend the life of your pad and keep it juicy at all times.
Use even pressure when stamping. For Photopolymer stamps, the Stampin' Pierce Mat provides cushioning that helps improve stamped images, especially like these.
Use Versamark Ink first. If the above tips still don't give you an image you're happy with, try inking with Versamark ink first, lightly stamping off, then inking with the Classic Stampin' Pad of choice. :)

Large Background Stamps will continue to be offered as Wood-Mount or Cling.
If you like wood-mount, get them while you can! Ultimately, this is a great change that will save you money and space!

BOTTOM LINE: This is a GREAT change that will improve your stamping (and ordering) experience!
